Our services come from understanding community needs.

AASS is an aspiring Recovery Community Organization (RCO) providing culturally specific resources to meet the unique needs of African Americans living with Substance Use Disorder in the Twin Cities Area. While rates of addiction seem to be the same in years past, a 2018 survey from SAMHSA shows that there is a rise in African American young adults experiencing Serious Mental Illness, with more than half receiving no treatment whatsoever.

Services

Community organizations such as AASS that can address mental health and the co-occurrence of SUD, then, are vital for bridging the gulf Black, Indigenous, People of Color face in receiving support pre and post-treatment. The nonprofit offers services such as:
